Soulful Ambition

The podcast for ambitious people yearning for more soul. Formerly known as A Balancing Act, Soulful Ambition explores what it means to live inside out and go after our deepest longings. Analisa Leaming is a Broadway actor turned down what would have been her 5th Broadway show to move her family to the mountains of Colorado and become a full-time coach. Soulful Ambition might sound contradictory at first… Because we’ve let society define ambition as striving for individual success, monetary gain, and personal achievements. But that’s not what the soul really craves. In each episode, we’re calling back the parts of ourselves conditioned to society’s grind and external pressure. And awakening the longing in your chest that is so big it threatens to swallow you whole. So you can shine unapologetically, source from within, and work towards your dreams with abandon.

Today’s episode is with Tony and Grammy winner Jessie Mueller! I’m beyond thrilled to share this conversation with you because Jessie is someone I have long admired. Getting to sit down and pick her brain was a treat. Jessie talks about her focus on the work, her views on “strength”, and about her time on and off stage. She talks about what she feels has kept her grounded and her strong belief that your personal life feeds your life onstage.

BIG NEWS!

Jack Plotnick and I are teaming up on an ABA online workshop called, “Learn to Love Acting Again + Book More Work”. You may remember Jack from earlier this season! Join us in less than two weeks on Monday, August 5th at 7pm EST if you want to explore tools to get out of your own way and fall in love with the work again. Visit www.abalancingact.biz/workshops/ to learn more and secure your spot! See you there!

Ready, Set, Action!

  1. Take a minute to think about what the word “strength” has meant to you up until this moment.
  2. Now think about how Jessie frames the word “strength” in her life.
  3. Make a list of the things or events that have shaped your “strength”.
  4. Let this list lift you up the next time you are feeling less than strong. I promise, you are strong and you can do this!
